question about sensors for measuring the concentration of a solution?
for my physics class, I had to build a simple sensor to measure the voltage dependent resistor light (LDR), which was kept under a glass full of water and a light source on the glass of water. Obviously in light of the lamp passes through the water in the tank of the GDR, as the voltmeter measures a voltage across the LDR. to measure the concentration I the addition of small amounts of about 0.01 grams of copper sulfate salt at a time. The solution became pale blue in aqua bright blue through the glass of the solution color to the LDR varies, so that the tension of the GDR vary. Now I have to draw a calibration curve tension (in the y-axis) and concetration (X axis) and measure the sensitivity of my sensor. my question is (if ur not tired of reading all this!) is: how to put my sensor in the context? how could it be used or developed? LDRs concentratin sensors are used in batteries?
I do not know what you mean when asked to present in context, but I can say that a technique similar to the one you made using is commonly used to measure concentrations in the liquid. For example, UV detectors are widely used in chemistry laboratories to measure the concentration of a chemical (eg, a drug molecule, protein, etc.) in a liquid. The UV detector measures the light absorption UV at different wavelengths, and absorption is compared with a standard solution to calculate the concentration. The ability to measure at different wavelengths allows the application of more sensitive and test different compounds. To develop test apparatus using a lamp and LDR, we need to design an instrument that maintains several things constant. The lamp must have a constant output during his life, and the distance traveled by light through the liquid must also be constant. By varying one of these variables, stress and also varies as a source of error.
