How to wire a new Datyon furnace motor to an existing sysem using a 3 wire system, with capacitor. ?
I had a GE 3 wire motor, and now replacing it with a more universal Dayton. The box has no color code instructions, and the scheme on the new motor is ambiguous. I can't seem to understand what the capacitor has to do with it, and which wires go where. I have a 3 wire "dummy" plug to hook back up to the furnace. I know what is what on the dummy plug, but can't id the wires on the motor. Don't know which is Hot, common, or speeds.The motor is a Dayton 4M098G. Respond even if you know where to find a wire scheme for this motor.
This is a 115 volt motor.
The capacitor is for the motor start circuit and is very common.
On the motor, there is a wiring diagram. There should also be a point for a conduit connection. Close to the conduit connection there should be a "flap" held on by 2 screws. This is where the wiring connection is.
Open the flap and compare it to the wiring diagham. You need to connect a black (hot), white (neutral) and green(ground) at this point and splice it to the quick connect(cut off plug)
