I am replacing the crosses on my new advent speakers specifications are?
I am looking for a parts Cat.I see capacitors from6 $ to69. $ I understand I 13uf A12 and A1 is a big difference in sound dollars, the same with inductors.33mH $ 7 to $ 37. Is it worth paying the extra or go through the road. Sledgehammer $ 15.30 or inductor air core Goertz 12 AWG $ 32.10? OrClarity fast polypropylene cap or $ 5.95 cap18.10 supreme silver59.40. Suggestions and proposals for Hans appreciated. Thanks
Well, it's good to have options anyway. I suspect there are two important differences in the components. Power capacity and tolerance. By implication, the more expensive components will have a power rating greater and greater tolerance of the specification. I also suspect that the covers may be different. In the case of strangulation that can not be applied but the caps with higher prices would have better construction to the extent of leakage and raw materials quality. I'd consider matching the components of quality crossing in the other devices. There is no point in using a high-end crossover speakers Cheap or low end cabinets. One other consideration is the application itself. Note that the audio is very subjective. You hear an announcement of a difference between $ 30.00 and a $ 10.00 choke? I bet you had the $ 10.00 rate not.But fail long before the $ 30.00 one .... least in theory. Finally, by nature, we must accept that anything built there will be a week link. The ideal is to make Easy link to replace and pay for a repair. Good luck.
